Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Preparation:
- Address the learning needs of all students, creating independent learning opportunities.
- Plan and deliver cognitively engaging lessons, integrating social-emotional practices.
- Use data to drive decision-making and improve student outcomes.
- Demonstrate a passion for learning, a growth mindset, and a love for reading.
Relationship Building and Student Support:
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all stakeholders.
- Utilize restorative justice principles to manage conflicts and redirect behavior.
- Celebrate student progress and maintain high standards for effort and achievement.
Family and Community Engagement:
- Build trust and care with families through regular communication.
- Encourage authentic family participation in classroom activities and learning opportunities.
- Provide families with tools to support student learning at home.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Reflect on feedback and continuously improve teaching practices.
- Participate in professional development, mentorship, and coaching cycles.
- Maintain accurate records for grading, progress monitoring, and communication.

Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- An M.A., Ed.M, or master’s degree in English, History, or a relevant content area (preferred).
- New York State Certification for the relevant grades and content area (or process toward reciprocity).
- At least 2 years of demonstrated success as a full-time middle school teacher.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching, including continuous learning and data analysis.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
- A commitment to single-sex education and a growth mindset.
